For the folks (Ajju) who e-filed using a new SSN for their wives - and used the Paperless option: I understand that you have to put $0 for AGI, how about the PIN - should I (correctly) enter the PIN that was used for the 2006 filing OR does that have to change as well?
I have e-filed using $0 and last year's PIN, waiting to see if that goes through. It's been rejected twice so far, since I was using non-zero AGI amount.

I selected a new PIN... It didn't ask for my 2006 PIN.. I didn't remember last years PIN also.. So with AGI=$0 and new SSN.. you filing should go thru...

In the similar boat.. I received sms/email on 13th that 485 has been approved but have not received any welcome/approval letter till date. I am on H1b. It has expired and I don't have Advance Parole also. I need to travel urgently in first week of June 2011. I was thinking of getting my H1b stamped during the trip, but since that's not possible what are my options???
I called my lawyers office but really didn't get any sound reply... seems like that lost interest once I told them I am not filing EAD/AP and GC is approved

Don't point to websites, its just too much reading and the HR might get the illusion that the process involves too much work whereas its not that bad..
I was in similar situation five years ago, all I did was during my final interview with HR I requested them and was able to refer an attorney. The attorney did a good job of preparing the documents and providing rosy sticky tags for HR's signature. That made HR's and manager's life so easy. In return, I'm the medium between my attorney and HR. So, you will have to sell it to HR and engg. manager that "its no big deal"....

I attended Visa Interview for my H1B extension today (Dec 11th 2009) at Hyderabad Consulate.
I do have a genuine job and had been working for the same client since the day I started working in the US..
VO gave me 221g Yellow form and he didn't check anything. He asked me to drop all the documents in the drop box. He didn't mention anything about the passport.
Below is conversation:
1) DS-156, 157 & Passport
A) I handed him those docs.
2) Are you returning to the same job?
A) Yes sir
3) Can I see the client letter?
A) I gave a letter from Fedex. (Attached the client letter I submitted to the Consulate Officer)
4) Can I see your Paystubs?
A) Gave him all the paystubs since May 2007.
5) Why are the amounts different in paystubs?
A) Base salary is same, but bonus component varies every pay cycle. Also, my employer had switched to a different payroll company and since then they are running the payroll weekly.
He then gave me a 221g Yellow form and asked me to drop all the documents in the dropbox. And he also asked me if he could keep the client letter. I said Yes.
Couple of questions:
1) Should i drop my passport along with all other documents?
2) What is the success rate and
3) Why do they usually issue an Yellow slip?
Any help is greatly appreciated..

With the news of onset of RFE's - does the attorney only get the RFE or do both the attorney and the applicant get a copy of the RFE.
I am sure many would have this question - my attorney on the submitted G-28 form was one tied to my previous company. I have switched jobs since then but have not submitted AC-21 notification (though I qualify for the same). I have not submitted a new G-28 form to change attorney representation since I do not have an attorney at this time.
I just want to make sure that incase an RFE is issued - I get a copy even though my old attorney is on file. Any input/advise will be much appreciated on how to make sure of the same.

H1b extensions can be done based on approved Labor alone. You need i140 only if you need 3 year extensions.
You mentioned the extension filed is based on approved labor. You I140 status does not matter for 1 year renewals. This is my own experience.

I am a consultant hence i have given a friends address who own a home so that i dont need to change it often.
This trick was good five years back but in my opinion it is risky nowadays.The idea and intention was good as not to have bothered avout address change frequently. But To solve one problem you have created another mess. If you will not keep an eye on that you may face problems during naturalization and/or even getting new project where background check is required.
In my opinion, now you will have to keep a practice to give your friend's address as your address while mentioning your residence history. For an example, you want to do a project in new Fortune 1000 client. (Note: Nowadays almost all fortune companies go for background check and medical test before taking one on board)That client will go through your medical/background test and in the form which may be fille up , there do not forget to mention your friend's address as your residence address otherwise you may face problem. Same goes with naturalization process..

I entered US through Logan on Dec 12th, 2007 and got i94 till Nov 2010.
When I applied for SSN at Norwood SSN office, they told me that the immigration dept have to cross verify my visa details and confirm them back which is still not done. Without SSN, Payroll is not generated. I have to return back to India in next 1 week. Can someone let me know the contact info of immigration people. Is this common thing to happen or i need to fight it out Any input will be appreciated. Thanks

I will suggest you to call the Congressman instead of Senator as they are more focussed. Send a letter & even better just drive up & meet them. You will not be able to meet the Congressman but the office staff will take care of your problem

At one point in time, i was the First to propose a meeting with NumbersUSA, but now i have to agree with Logicliffe. They have a specific agenda and want to reduce ALL forms of immigration.
Fighting them is like banging ur head against the wall. You can argue with someone who is fair and not totally biased against immigration. Even their message on the website is misleading. I believe dates open 2 weeks in advance. If you want appointment in Nov check in mid of October. I recently went for stamping in Chennai and experience was smooth.

As per my understanding, due to the July 2, 2007 fiasco, Visa dates were unavailable for ALL chargeability areas between July 2nd - July 17th 2007 (i.e until USCIS temporarily made relaxation after protests from IV et al. )
So how can the processing date be July 11th !!
It implies that they are processing a case that was filed/receipted on July 11th !! Whereas as per the Visa bulletin no body should have been able to file a case when PDs were not current during that brief time slot (2nd - 17th of july). So are they processing cases out of thin air !! :) (just kidding...I know some people did contine to file after July 2nd despite dates not being current)
If indeed people did continue to file their papers even after July 2nd (and I think some did), then may be they are processing those (relatively) few applications. But would they allow such applications. I guess they are...they are atleast processing them :) , whether or not they will honor such filings I dont know....

if you want to get something from India. I think DHL is ok so far for me. But make sure that you are shipping it from the DHL main center .Never ever do it from normal (shop)braches as they would take their own sweet time to deliver them to main center.

Can I file for the I-485 before july 1st 2007?
I doing my medical exam next week on the 20th, that's the earliest i could get in MA.
However i'm going to do my x-ray tomorrow, because i always test positive after the TB test, but x-ray negative. Does it hurt to do the x-ray earlier that the actual TB test (PPD)? my doctor said it does not hurt and he will accept it. Does any one know if there going to be a problem with that ?
